Mellitah Oil & Gas lets contract for offshore Libya

Mellitah Oil & Gas BV has let a contract to Technip to handle subsea installations and platform engineering for the Bahr Essalam Phase II natural gas development offshore Libya in 623 ft of water in the central Mediterranean Sea.

Mellitah Oil & Gas BV has let a contract to Technip to handle subsea installations and platform engineering for the Bahr Essalam Phase II natural gas development offshore Libya in 623 ft of water in the central Mediterranean Sea.

The field will be tied back to the Sabratha platform operated by Mellitah, a consortium of Libya’s National Oil Corp. and Eni North Africa.

Technip will handle overall design, detailed engineering and project management, procurement, installation, tie-ins, precommissioning, and commissioning for a gas-gathering system.

Work includes an 8-mile, 20-in. production pipeline, two subsea isolation valves, and umbilicals.

Technip also will install spools and make and topsides modifications at Sabratha to receive the gas.

The installation work is scheduled during 2017-18.
