Petrobras lets drilling contract for Búzios field

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has let a contract to Seadrill Ltd. for the West Jupiter drillship to work in Búzios field, about 200 km offshore Rio de Janeiro.

Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras) has let a contract to Seadrill Ltd. for the West Jupiter drillship to work in Búzios field, about 200 km offshore Rio de Janeiro.

The contract is for a firm term of 1,040 days, starting in December 2022. Total contract value is about $264 million (inclusive of mobilization revenue and additional services). The drillship is currently offshore Africa.

Búzios, in the Santos basin presalt in about 6,560 ft of water, began production in April 2018 and has already produced around 100 MMboe. Average daily production of the field has reached 600,000 boe/d with four FPSOs installed (P-74, P-75, P76, P-77) (OGJ Online, Sept. 30, 2021).
