Seadrill Ltd. and Sonangol EP affiliate Empresa de Servicos e Sondagens de Angola Ltda. will bareboat two drillships each into Sonadrill—a 50-50 joint venture focused on opportunities in Angolan waters.
Seadrill, which will contribute two drillships from its exiting or managed fleet, will manage and operate the drillships for Sonadrill for an initial 5-year term.
Sonangol’s Libongos and Quenguela drillships—both 7th-generation high-spec ultradeepwater vessels—are under construction at DSME shipyard in South Korea and expected to be delivered in this year’s first half.
Seadrill will manage the delivery and mobilization to Angolan waters under a separate commissioning and mobilization agreement with Sonangol.
