Cogent Midstream LLC, Dallas, is expanding its natural gas processing capacity in the lower Midland basin of West Texas with construction of a refrigerated cryogenic processing plant at the same location as its existing Big Lake gas plant in Reagan County, Tex.

The Big Lake II project will include a proprietary UOP Russell 200-MMcfd processing plant capable of high-recovery rates for NGLs (including ethane and propane) to serve rising gas production from the Wolfcamp formation, Cogent said.

Scheduled for startup in fourth-quarter 2019, the new Big Lake II plant will expand total gas processing capacity in the region to 510 MMcfd.

Backed by growth capital commitments from EnCap Flatrock Midstream, Cogent operates Midland basin assets formerly held by Lucid Energy Group I LLC (OGJ Online, May 21, 2014).
