Valero Energy Corp. has let a contract to CB&I, Houston, to provide technology and equipment for an alkylation project at subsidiary Valero Refining New Orleans LLC’s 340,000-b/d St. Charles refinery in Norco, La.

As part of its scope of work under the contract, CB&I will deliver technology licensing for its proprietary CDAlky technology, as well as basic engineering and proprietary equipment for the new CDAlky unit, the service provider said.

Scheduled for startup in 2020, the CDAlky unit will be equipped to produce 25,000 b/d of alkylate from FCC-derived olefin feedstocks.

CB&I did not reveal a value of the contract.
