How bp Reduced Methane Slip and Improved Flare Efficiency with flare.IQ
To address challenges in accurately measuring methane emissions from flaring operations, bp partnered with Panametrics, to implement the flare.IQ technology. Traditional methods using static emission factors were unreliable due to environmental and operational variability. flare.IQ enabled real-time monitoring of combustion efficiency (CE) and destruction and removal efficiency (DRE), achieving a consistent DRE of 99.3% across bp sites with gas heating values above 300 BTU/SCF. This led to significant methane emission reductions, improved operational efficiency, and enhanced regulatory compliance. Integrated with Bently Nevada’s System 1 platform, flare.IQ allowed bp to optimize flare operations dynamically. The collaboration exemplifies how advanced digital solutions can support sustainability goals in the energy sector.
