Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has undertaken a temporary shutdown of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at its integrated 60 million-tonne/year refining and petrochemical complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat, India.

Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) has undertaken a temporary shutdown of a fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) unit at its integrated 60 million-tonne/year refining and petrochemical complex at Jamnagar in Gujarat, India.

Scheduled to restart within 2 weeks, the unit was shuttered “to assure reliability and integrity of operations,” RIL said in an Aug. 15 filing to National Stock Exchange of India Ltd.

Remaining units at the Jamnagar complex continue to operate normally, and the “short” shutdown should not cause any material impacts to overall operations at the site, the operator said.

While RIL disclosed no further details regarding the FCC unit’s shutdown, local Indian media outlets have reported the operator has declared a force majeure on gasoline exports from the Jamnagar complex.

RIL, however, has yet to confirm declaration of a force majeure on shipments from the site.
