Motiva Enterprises LLC is investigating a fire that broke out on Feb. 24 at its 227,000-b/d refinery in St. James Parish outside of Convent, La.
The fire, which occurred at 3:40 p.m. on Feb. 24 in an unidentified unit at Motiva’s Convent refinery was contained and extinguished by 4:25 p.m., according to Motiva.
All refinery personnel have been accounted for, and no injuries or off-site impacts related to the incident have been reported, Motiva said.
All appropriate agencies have been notified of the incident, and the cause of the fire is now under investigation, according to the company.
Motiva, however, declined to disclose further details regarding the impacted unit or operational status of the refinery, citing commercial confidentiality.
Motiva is a refining and marketing joint venture owned by affiliates of Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Saudi Aramco.
