ExxonMobil Corp. affiliate Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd. suffered a fire June 6, 2022, at its 270,000-b/d Fawley oil refinery near Southamption, Hampshire, UK. The company said no one was injured, all personnel were accounted for, at that the fire is now “safely contained.”
"Our own specialist teams responded quickly and, with the help of Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, safely addressed the situation. We may continue to use our flare in order to safely manage ongoing operations,” ExxonMobil said. The company apologized “for any concern that has been caused.”
