ONEOK Inc. has temporarily shut down operations at its Mont Belvieu, Tex., fractionation complex following a fire in the MB-4 fractionator on Oct. 6, the company said.
The incident, which occurred in the complex’s heating system, was isolated to MB-4 and was extinguished shortly after being reported.
The fire did not result in any injuries, and emergency response protocols were implemented without incident, according to the Tulsa-based midstream operator.
“ONEOK does not currently anticipate that the incident will have a material effect on the company’s financial condition, results of operations or cash flows,” the company said.
While the entire complex was taken offline as a precaution, ONEOK stated that it anticipates resuming operations at unaffected units after completing initial safety evaluations. MB-4 will remain offline pending repairs.
The company did not provide a timeline for the restart of MB-4, nor did it disclose the cause of the fire pending internal reviews.
The MB-4 unit is one of several fractionators at ONEOK’s Mont Belvieu complex, a critical hub for NGL fractionation along the US Gulf Coast.
ONEOK most recently commissioned its 125,000-b/d MB-6 at the site in late 2025 to increase Mont Belvieu’s overall fractionation capacity to more than 1 million b/d.
