Evolution Midstream LLC, Denver, has let a contract to John Wood Group PLC for work on a natural gas processing plant now under construction in Converse County, Wyo., in the heart of central Wyoming’s South Powder River basin (PRB) (OGJ Online, Aug. 30, 2018).

As part of the multimillion-dollar contract, Wood will provide civil and mechanical construction services for the Jewell gas processing plant, the first to be built in Wyoming in 6 years, the service provider said.

Wood said this latest contract follows smaller projects the company previously completed for Evolution, including frontend engineering and design as well as surveys for the Jewell plant and associated pipeline.

Located nearby Evolution’s existing PRB infrastructure, the Jewell plant is scheduled to begin operations during this year’s fourth quarter with an initial processing capacity of 40 MMcfd, which will be expanded to 100 MMcfd in 2019 to meet growing needs of producers in the region, Evolution said upon announcing the project.

The plant—which will be equipped with an unidentified “innovative processing technology” unique to the region—will include a 4,500-b/d fractionation and stabilization train designed to extract purity propane and provide stabilized condensate for sale in local and interstate markets, as well as offer residue gas connections to MIGC LLC’s, Kinder Morgan Inc. subsidiary Wisconsin Interstate Co.’s, and other interstate pipelines that extend to the Cheyenne Hub market.

Backed by $300 million in equity commitments from funds managed by EnCap Flatrock Midstream, Evolution, via subsidiary Rowdy Pipeline LLC, operates about 1,000 miles of gas gathering lines and 43,700 hp of compression in the PRB to serve oil and gas producers in Wyoming’s Campbell, Converse, and Johnson counties.
