Meritage to double Powder River basin gas processing

Thunder Creek Gas Services, a subsidiary of Meritage Midstream Services, is more than doubling natural gas processing capacity on its supersystem in Wyoming’s Powder River basin with construction of a new cryogenic processing plant in Converse County, several miles west of Douglas, Wyo.

Noble Energy sanctions Alen gas development project

Noble Energy Inc. has sanctioned the Alen natural gas development project offshore Equatorial Guinea with the start of production expected in first-half 2021. Gas will be processed through Alba Plant LLC’s liquefied petroleum gas plant and EGLNG’s LNG plant at Punta Europa, Bioko Island—both onshore and Marathon Oil-operated.

Gazprom, partner advance LNG-chemical plan

Gazprom and RusGasDobycha have begun implementing plans for a large natural gas liquefaction and processing complex on the Gulf of Finland near Ust-Luga, Russia. The companies decided on final configuration of the complex, which will process 45 billion cu m/year of gas and yield 13 million tonnes/year of LNG, as much as 4 million tpy of ethane, and more than 2.2 million tpy of LPG.

Ineos to double capacity of proposed USGC EO-EOD plant

Ineos is planning to double the size of subsidiary Ineos Oxide’s proposed ethylene oxide and ethylene oxide derivatives plant to be built somewhere along the US Gulf Coast. Part of Ineos’ plan to address a fast-growing EO merchant market as well as the operator’s own requirements, the new plant—which will now produce 520,000 tonnes/year of EO—is slated to be operational sometime in 2023, Ineos said.

Algeria’s Touat gas project on track for exports by midyear

Neptune Energy Group and Algeria’s Sonatrach have started natural gas production as part of the commissioning of the partnership’s Touat project in the Sbaa basin, 1,500 km southwest of Algiers, near Adrar. The development, which will produce about 450 MMcfd of gas at plateau, remains on track to begin gas export production by the end of this year’s first half.

Sonatrach lets contract for southwest Algerian gas plants

State-owned Sonatrach has let a contract to Larsen & Toubro Ltd. subsidiary L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) to provide engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning services for three central gas processing plants near to each other in southwest Algeria’s Adrar Province.

Gas plant starts at Dirok field in Assam

Hindustan Oil Exploration Co. Ltd., Chennai, has placed on stream a modular gas processing plant at Dirok natural gas field in Assam, where it plans to drill four wells under a revised plan for second-phase development. The Hollong plant, about 10 km south of Digboi, can process 35 MMscfd of gas and 800 b/d of condensate. HOEC called it “a first of its kind in India.”

SemCAMS commissions Wapiti gas plant

SemCAMS, a subsidiary of SemGroup Corp., has completed startup of its Wapiti sour gas processing plant to serve Montney producers in the Wapiti region of the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. The 200-MMcfd plant began processing raw sour gas on Jan. 27 and is now fully operational, more than 2 months ahead of the original Apr. 1 target, SemGroup said.

UAE’s Sharjah opens onshore gas exploration to IOCs

ExxonMobil lets FEED contract for Ca Voi Xanh field in Vietnam

ExxonMobil Exploration & Production Vietnam and its joint venture partners PetroVietnam and PetroVietnam Exploration Production have let an onshore-offshore front-end engineering and design contract to Saipem’s XSIGHT divition for the Ca Voi Xanh (Blue Whale) project in Vietnam.

Grassroots methanol project revived for Louisiana

South Louisiana Methanol (SLM) and new joint-venture partner Saudi Arabian Basic Industries Corp. are planning a $2.2-billion capital investment to build a grassroots methanol complex in St. James Parish, La. Originally announced in 2013 as a project of ZEEP and Todd Corp., SLM—which is now majority-owned by Todd—will pursue the JV methanol project with a SABIC subsidiary, Louisiana Economic Development said.

East Timor moves to majority stake in Sunrise gas field

East Timor has moved to a majority interest in the Greater Sunrise natural gas fields with the acquisition of Shell’s 26.6% stake for $300 million. The acquisition follows the government’s purchase of ConocoPhillips’s 30% stake in the fields for $350 million early in October and now brings East Timor’s total holding to 56.56%
