HOUSTON, Sept. 10 -- Mexico's Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) said it suspects sabotage is behind six explosions on four natural gas pipelines and one LPG pipeline in Veracruz.

Four of the blasts produced fires, which were brought under control, Pemex said. There were no reports of deaths or injuries directly related to the explosions or fires, Pemex said.

Veracruz authorities said about 12,000 people were evacuated.

Two blasts involved different sections of a 48-in. Cactus-San Fernando pipeline. A third blast rocked the separate 48-in. Zempoala-Santa Ana gas line, Pemex said.

Two other explosions damaged the 30-in. Minatitlan gas pipeline and a 24-in. LPG pipeline.

A sixth explosion ripped into the Algodonera aerial crossing section of the Minatitlan gas pipeline, the LPG pipeline, and a 30-in oil pipeline.

In July, a guerrilla group claimed responsibility for blasts that damaged a Pemex gas pipeline in central Mexico.
