TAIPEIFormosa Petrochemical Corp., an affiliate of Taiwans Formosa Plastics Group, expects to begin domestic sales of diesel fuel refined at the its new Taiwan petrochemical complex within the next several weeks.

A company official said that diesel and kerosine refined at the complex have successfully undergone testing mandated by Taiwans Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) and that the ministry was expected to give its approval for marketing the products by the beginning of May.

In addition, Formosa Petrochemical announced that it has gained approval from the MOEAs energy commission to export diesel fuel and that the first shipment of 30,000 tonnes was to leave Taiwan before the end of April bound for Japan.

The decision by the energy commission to permit Formosa to export diesel fuel, kerosine, and LPG means the company is now able to export most of its refined petroleum products except gasoline.
