Qatar Shell signs 5-year contract for gasket supply at Pearl GTL plant

Qatar Shell Ltd., a unit of Royal Dutch Shell PLC, has let a contract to Qatar German Gasket Factory (QGER) for the supply of gaskets to the Pearl gas-to-liquids (GTL) plant in Qatar’s Ras Laffan Industrial City north of Doha.

“This contract will enable GQER to provide a range of gaskets to the world-scale Pearl GTL plant, the largest energy project ever built in Qatar and the largest GTL plant in the world,” Shell confirmed in an email to OGJ.

A value for the 5-year supply contract was not disclosed.

Shell is operator of the Pearl GTL plant under a development and production-sharing agreement with Qatar Petroleum.

Major construction on the project, which was launched in July 2006 (OGJ Online, July 27, 2006), was completed in 2010, with the gas processing plant starting production of condensate, LPG, and sulfur in March 2011 (OGJ Online, Mar. 23, 2011).
