MOL Group subsidiary MOL Petrochemicals Co. Ltd. (formerly TVK PLC) has let a contract to McDermott International Inc. to provide technology licensing for a new unit at its Tiszaújvaros petrochemicals complex in northeastern Hungary.

As part of the contract, McDermott will deliver licensing, basic engineering design, catalyst, and front-end engineering design for an olefins conversion technology (OCT) unit that will have a production capacity of 100,000 tonnes/year of polymer-grade propylene from steam cracker and refinery feedstocks using McDermott-Chevron Corp. joint venture Chevron Lummus Global LLC’s proprietary OCT as well as a CDHydro deisobutenizer unit, McDermott said.

The unit will also produce an isobutene-rich stream, according to the service provider.

McDermott, which valued the contract at $1-50 million, confirmed the award will be reflected in its second-quarter 2019 backlog.

Further details regarding the proposed project—including a timeframe for its execution—were not disclosed.
