LONDON, Jan. 22 -- Shell UK Oil Products Ltd. has extended for another 2 years its alliance contract with Foster Wheeler Ltd., permitting the firm to provide design and construction services for Shell's Stanlow refinery south of the Mersey estuary near Ellesmere Port in the UK.
The 12 million tonne/year manufacturing complex is Shell's only refinery in the UK.
This second extension of the current contract will take the Foster Wheeler alliance relationship with Shell at Stanlow to 2011. Foster Wheeler's original contract with Shell was signed in 1997.
Foster Wheeler's work increasingly has dealt with a higher refinery-chemical complex workload. The refinery produces a range of oil products, about 4,000 million l./year of gasoline and about 15,000 million l./year of kerosine.
Nigel Keech, projects manager at Shell UK, said extending the relationship will enable Shell to implement its business plan.
