HOUSTON, Oct. 26 - Oil production has resumed at Suncor Energy Inc.'s oil sands base plant near Fort McMurray, Alta.
The company completed maintenance on a unit in its upgrading facility and full, four-coker operations resumed Thursday.
Repairs were made to the fractionator, a unit in the upgrader that separates hydrocarbon vapors into three components: naphtha, kerosene and gas oil.
The unit was down 7 days. Work was finished 3 days ahead of schedule (OGJ Online, Oct. 18, 2001).
Suncor's s aid the unscheduled interruption will impact fourth quarter production, which is expected to average 155,000 to 165,000 b.d.
The outage did not impact the commissioning of Project Millennium, an expansion to increase capacity of the oil sands plant to 225,000 b/d by 2002. As of Friday morning, Millennium had produced 300,000 bbl of oil.
