Woodfibre LNG LP received two essential modules at the British Columbia, Canada, site of the 2.1-million tonne/year (tpy) Woodfibre LNG plant, bringing construction progress to almost 60% complete. Operations are targeted to begin in 2027.

In January, the company said MO1 (pretreatment) and MO9 (process utility), the 13th and 14th modules delivered, arrived aboard Seaway7's heavy-lift vessel Seaway Swan and have now been set in place. Five more modules are expected in the coming months, the company said.

The pretreatment module ensures natural gas is free of moisture and trace gases to meet strict liquefaction standards.

The process utility module supplies the critical common process utilities for the LNG process, including the tempered cooling water system, hot oil heating system and the thermal oxidizer.

The Woodfibre LNG plant is being built near the community of Squamish on the traditional territory of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation). The project is owned by Woodfibre LNG LP, owned 70% by Pacific Energy Corp. (Canada) Ltd. and 30% by Enbridge Inc.

The plant will source its natural gas from Pacific Canbriam Energy, a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corp. Ltd., and expects to achieve net zero status by 2027 in part through use of electric compressors using renewable hydroelectricity from BC Hydro.
