June 17, 2025
Commonwealth LNG has identified Petronas LNG Ltd., a subsidiary of Petronas, Malaysia's national oil and gas company, as the energy company referenced in its May 5 release noting an LNG sale agreement (OGJ Online, May 6, 2025).
Petronas will purchase 1 million tonnes/year (tpy) of LNG for 20 years from Commonwealth's 9.5 million tpy plant under development in Cameron, La., Commonwealth said in a release June 17.
Commonwealth LNG currently has 4 million tpy of offtake under long-term agreement and aims to finalize its commercial book ahead of a targeted final investment decision in this year’s third quarter and anticipated first LNG production in late 2029.
The supply agreement will become fully effective upon the satisfaction of customary conditions, including an affirmative final investment decision on the project, Commonwealth said.
