Inpex has secured two LNG carriers for delivery of the Ichthys project gas to Japan and Taiwan.

Inpex Shipping, the company’s wholly owned subsidiary, will co-own one of the vessels with Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (the K-Line).

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries will build the carrier, which will be operated by Ocean Breeze LNG Transport. It will be capable of transporting 900,000 tonnes/year of LNG from the project’s LNG plant and loading facilities in Darwin.

The second vessel will be operated by K-Line.
