The ExxonMobil Corp.-led PNG-LNG Project in Papua New Guinea has shipped its 100th cargo of LNG to Japan.

The cargo, aboard the carrier methane Spirit, is bound for Tokyo Electric Power Co., the buyer that took receipt of the project’s first shipment in May 2014.

Since LNG exports began, the jetty and loading facilities near Port Moresby have loaded a vessel on average every 3-4 days with no problems.

More than 7 million tonnes of LNG have been produced and exported from the highlands gas fields since they came on stream in April 2014. The project is expected to produce at least 9 tcf of gas during the next 30 years.
