NFE places LNG terminal in Santa Catarina into operation

New Fortress Energy Inc. has begun operations at its new-build LNG terminal in Santa Catarina, Brazil.

New Fortress Energy Inc. has begun operations at its Terminal Gas Sul (TGS) LNG, the operator’s new-build LNG terminal in Santa Catarina, Brazil, with the 160,000-cu m floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) Energos Winter on-site, the company said in a release Mar. 1.

TGS is an offshore LNG import terminal with a capacity of about 6 million tonnes/year (tpy) and maximum send out of 500 MMcfd. The terminal includes the Winter FSRU and a 33-km, 20-in. OD pipeline, which connects the terminal to the existing inland Transportadora Brasileira Gasoduto Bolívia-Brasil (TBG) pipeline (OGJ Online, Nov. 6, 2023).

Earlier this week, New Fortress Energy commissioned its 6-million tpy Barcarena LNG terminal in Pará, Brazil with the Energos Celsius FSRU on-site (OGJ Online, Feb. 29, 2024).
