Eni signs Wison to build, install 2.4-million tpy FLNG offshore Congo

Eni SPA has contracted Wison Heavy Industry to build and install a 2.4-million tpy FLNG unit offshore the Republic of Congo. Preliminary activities are already underway, with long-lead items ordered Dec. 20, 2022.

Eni SPA has contracted Wison Heavy Industry Co. Ltd. to build and install a 2.4-million tonne/year (tpy) floating LNG (FLNG) unit offshore the Republic of Congo. Preliminary activities are already underway, with long-lead items ordered and steel for its cryogenic tanks cut Dec. 20, 2022.

The 380 m long and 60 m wide vessel will be anchored at a water depth of around 40 m and will be able to store more than 180,000 cu m of LNG and 45,000 cu m of LPG.

The vessel will be the second FLNG deployed by Eni in the Republic of Congo, the first one being 0.6-million tpy Tango FLNG, expected to begin production second-half 2023. With the second FLNG, overall production at Marine XII block will reach 3 million tpy in 2025.

Five fields have been discovered in Marine XII, containing a total 1.3 billion boe of proven and probable (2P) reserves (OGJ Online, Aug. 8, 2022).
