Delfin LNG LLC has requested a 1-year extension from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, to Sept. 28, 2022, to place the onshore components of its planned 13-million tonne/year offshore liquefaction complex into service.
Delfin LNG LLC has requested a 1-year extension from the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), to Sept. 28, 2022, to place the onshore components of its planned 13-million tonne/year offshore liquefaction complex into service. The request is Delfin’s third, FERC initially having approved the project in September 2017 for completion in September 2019.

FERC denied a request in June 2019 for an extension to March 2023, granting a 1-year bump to September 2020 instead. The in-service date was subsequently extended to September 2021.
Delfin says it has entered detailed negotiations with potential LNG buyers for the purpose of signing long-term offtake contracts in the next 12 months.
Delfin LNG completed front-end engineering design for the plant’s planned four liquefaction vessels in late 2020 (OGJ Online, Oct. 12, 2020). The ships will be stationed offshore Louisiana.
New onshore components include onshore pipelines, three compressors totaling 74,000 hp, a natural gas supply header, and a meter station. Gas will be shipped offshore via the existing UTOS pipeline, acquired by Delfin in 2014.
