Total E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltda. contractor CCS JV has selected Siemens Energy to supply power generation equipment and boil-off gas compressors for its Mozambique LNG project in Cabo Delgado province on Africa’s east coast.

Total E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltda. contractor CCS JV (a joint venture between Saipem SPA and McDermott International Inc.) has selected Siemens Energy to supply power generation equipment and boil-off gas (BOG) compressors for its 12-million tonne/year (tpy) Mozambique LNG project in Cabo Delgado province on Africa’s east coast. The project includes development of offshore gas fields in Mozambique’s Area 1 and an onshore LNG plant. The liquefaction plant is expected to enter service in 2024.

Siemens will supply six SGT-800 industrial gas turbines for low-emissions onsite power generation. The company will also supply four centrifugal compressors for BOG service. The gas turbines are slated for delivery second-half 2021 and first-half 2022. Compressor delivery is scheduled for 2021.

Total earlier this year signed a memorandum of understanding with the Mozambique government regarding project security (OGJ Online, Aug. 27, 2020). The company also secured nearly $16 billion in financing (OGJ Online, July 17, 2020) and awarded the plant’s marine terminal contract (OGJ Online, July 17, 2020).

Total operates Mozambique LNG with a 26.5% participating interest alongside ENH Rovuma Área Um SA (15%), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area 1 Ltd. (20%), ONGC Videsh Rovuma Ltd. (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique Ltd. (10%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique BV (10%), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 Ltd. (8.5%).
