Dhamra LNG Terminal Pvt. Ltd. (DLTPL) has contracted Rolls-Royce PLC to perform complete engineering, procurement, and construction of a 29-Mw natural gas fueled power plant to meet the 5-million tonne/year (tpy) terminal’s base power load. DLTPL expects to commission the plant, being built in Odisha on India’s east coast, by end-2021.

The core equipment for the power plant includes three 9.6-Mw gensets, based on 20-cylinder Rolls-Royce Bergen B35:40 gas engines.

Dhamra LNG will be expandable to 10-million tpy. Initial construction will include two 180,000-cu m storage tanks.

DLTPL is a joint venture between Indian multinational conglomerate Adani Group and Total SA. The JV expanded its partnership last year to supply and market natural gas in India (OGJ Online, Oct. 14, 2019).

Rolls-Royce in 2018 supplied and commissioned a 28-Mw power plant for Indian Oil Corp.’s 5-million tpy LNG terminal at Ennore, Tamil Nadu.
