FERC outlines timing for rules on proposed Alaska gas pipeline

HOUSTON, Nov. 19 -- The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission plans to issue a final rule in 3 months to govern open seasons for anticipated capacity on Alaska's proposed natural gas pipeline.

FERC intends to implement that rule by Feb. 10, 2005. The agency requests public comment on standards for providing access to the pipeline—providing that it is built.

A Dec. 3 technical conference is slated in Anchorage to gather comments, FERC said. The proposed pipeline would transport gas from Alaska's North Slope to the Lower 48.
