Iraq's South Oil lets contract for oil export terminals

South Oil Co. has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. for the basic engineering of oil export facilities to upgrade the existing Basra oil terminal in Iraq.

HOUSTON, Feb. 20 -- South Oil Co. has awarded a contract to Foster Wheeler Energy Ltd. for the basic engineering of oil export facilities to upgrade the existing Basra oil terminal in Iraq.

The new facilities, which will boost oil export capacity to 4.5 million b/d, will include single-point mooring buoys for tankers, oil pumping and metering equipment, and pipelines.

Foster Wheeler will prepare a technical definition package, plans and schedules for full project implementation, and invitation to bid documents for the supply and construction of the offshore export facilities.
