LOS ANGELES, May 29 -- China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) has taken delivery of the first LNG consignment from Indonesia in the southern area of Fujian Province.

According to a 25-year contract signed by CNOOC and Indonesia, CNOOC is to receive 2.6 million tonnes/year of LNG from the BP PLC-led Tangguh project in Papua province, Indonesia.

However, due to a delay in the start of operations at the Tangguh project, CNOOC's Fujian terminal received the first cargo of LNG from Indonesia's Bontang LNG project.

The Fujian terminal is to receive 15 more consignment of LNG in the first contract year starting from May, while CNOOC's Shanghai terminal plans to receive 3.03 million tonnes of LNG from Malaysia.
