HOUSTON, Oct. 11 -- Argentina company Pluspetrol Peru Corp. SA plans to build an 8-in., 125-km pipeline between two Peruvian assets, Nueva Esperanza in Block 8 and the Jibaro Marshalling area in Block 1-AB.

Pluspetrol, which operates both blocks, expects to have the pipeline operating by July 2002. It will carry a mix of light oil from Block 8 with heavy oil from the eastern area of Block 1-AB. Block 1-AB produces oil between 10° and 30°-gravity, but heavy oil is more dominant, especially towards the block's eastern zone. Most of the fields in block 1-AB are linked via pipeline.

The two blocks produce an average 60,000 b/d.

Pluspetrol earlier presented its environmental impact study for the project to the energy and mines ministry. A public hearing for indigenous communities is scheduled Oct. 30 at Valencia, Trompeteros, in Peru's northern jungle.

The company did not reveal the expected cost of the proposed pipeline.
