Dunkerque LNG is commissioning its regasification terminal at Dunkirk, France, and expects commercial operations to start in mid-September (OGJ Online, June 14, 2011).
The plant, on 56 hectares alongside Dunkirk’s Western Harbor, has capacity to regasify 13 billion cu m/year of LNG with a maximum flow rate of 1.9 million cu m/hr. It has three 190,000-cu m storage tanks.
Dunkerque LNG is a consortium of EDF (65%), Fluxys (25%), and Total (10%).
At commissioning, which began with the first arrival of an LNG carrier, the terminal operator becomes Gaz-Opale, owned 51% by Dunkerque LNG and 49% by Fluxys, a group of Belgian companies.
The terminal has pipeline connections to France and Belgium.
