Moss Bluff Gas Storage Systems, Houston, has started up its 1.3 bcf salt dome cavern gas storage facility in Liberty County, Tex., at 150 MMcfd maximum deliverability. Moss Bluff, a 50-50 joint venture of Phibro Energy Inc. and Tejas Power Corp., plans to leach two more caverns at the site to boost storage capacity to 8 bcf and increase needle peaking ability. Phase 2, with 2.7 bcf capacity, is to be complete in late 1992 and 4 bcf Phase 3 in late 1993.

Completed in 14 months, Moss Bluff is supplying gas to Tenngasco Corp. affiliate Channel Industries Gas Co. through an interconnect with Channel's 30 in. mainline.

Moss Bluff also scheduled deliveries to Texas Eastern Transmission Corp. and United Texas Transmission Co.

It plans to connect with Exxon Gas System Inc. and Natural Gas Pipeline Co. of America in first quarter 1991.

With start-up of Moss Bluff, Phibro has begun a bundled gas options service to give buyers the firm right to call on additional peaking gas supplies over the contract term.
