Murphy tabs Genesis for deepwater GoM transport
Murphy Oil Corp. contracted Genesis Energy LP to transport crude oil and natural gas production associated with Murphy’s deepwater Gulf of Mexico Khaleesi-Mormont and Samurai field developments starting in mid-2022. Owned by Murphy in conjunctions with investment funds managed by Ridgewood Energy Corp., the fields are being developed through the King’s Quay floating production system (FPS), moored in Green Canyon Block 433.
Crude will be shipped via a subsea tie-in with Genesis’s Shenzi lateral, with subsequent delivery to shore through either its Cameron Highway or Poseidon crude oil systems. Associated gas production will also tie-in subsea and be gathered on the company’s Anaconda system for shipment to shore on its Nautilus system. King’s Quay will process up to 80,000 b/d of oil and 100 MMcfd of gas.
The Khaleesi and Mormont field developments are in Green Canyon Blocks 345, 389, 390, 434, and 478, and the Samurai development in Green Canyon Block 432. King’s Quay FPS will be able to host additional subsea developments as producers continue to explore neighboring prospects in the Green Canyon area of the Gulf of Mexico.
The contracts for the Khaleesi-Mormont and Samurai fields include life of lease dedications for each and contain certain take-or-pay components. No capital will be required by Genesis to connect King’s Quay FPS to its assets.
Genesis also anticipates first crude deliveries in late 2021 on Cameron Highway of up to 140,000 b/d from BP’s Argos platform (OGJ Online, Sept. 2, 2019).
