We have tailored this certificated course to suit the needs of PetroSkills members and/or their staff who would like to gain an internationally-recognized health and safety qualification based on good health and safety standards across the oil and gas industry. It builds on the assumption that participants have attended Basics of HSE Management and either Basics of Safety or Basics of Health. Corporate Risk Systems Limited is the NEBOSH registered provider of this course on behalf of PetroSkills. The course comprises two days of tutorials covering essential syllabus content, two half-days on examination techniques, practice tests, and the formal written papers and practical examinations. The price of the course includes the NEBOSH registration / examination fee.
The NEBOSH International General Certificate is designed for managers, supervisors, engineers and aspiring HSE professionals who require a working knowledge and understanding of health and safety principles and practices to internationally-recognized and formally examined / certified standards. It is particularly suitable for those embarking on a career in health and safety, providing a valuable foundation for further professional study, for example the Accredited H&S Practitioner program (HS70). N.B. This five-day course assumes the participant has a sound foundation of health and safety knowledge. To ensure successful completion of the examination, participants are expected to have previously attended the PetroSkills Basics of HSE Management course, plus either Basics of Safety or Basics of Health courses. If not, participants may be asked to demonstrate an equivalent level of knowledge on registration.

- Describe the main elements of international standards for safety and health management including the International Labor Organization (ILO) codes of practice and Occupational Health and Safety Management framework.
- Review the main hazards and methods of risk control for construction, chemical, biological, physical and psychological health.
- Prepare for the NEBOSH International General Certificate examinations (two written papers and one practical exercise) - this will include practice questions, model answers and examination techniques.
- Take the International General Certificate examinations, which are together accredited by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) for its Technician grade of membership, and the TechIOSH designatory letters upon successful application.
