HOUSTON, Feb. 3
– Dana Petroleum PLC, Aberdeen, said one of the 17 exploration wells it has scheduled in 2010 is the Cormoran prospect in Block 7 off Mauritania.

Cormoran is aimed at proving sufficient volumes to reach the commercial threshold for gas development in combination with the Pelican discovery;

Pelican-1, in 1,700 m of water, went to a TD of 3,825 m in December 2003 on a large anticlinal feature. Evaluation of the wireline logs and pressure data indicated a 370-m gross gas column within which a number of gas-bearing sands are present.
