HOUSTON, Feb. 24 – Quetzal Energy Ltd., Toronto, has spud the Atzam-3A development well on the A7-2005 license in Guatemala’s South Peten basin.
The well, 500 m east of Basic Petroleum (Bahamas) Ltd.’s Atzam-2 well, is projected to 4,300 ft and expected to top the Cretaceous Coban C-18 and C-19 intervals 50 ft structurally higher than in Atzam-2.
Atzam-2, TD 4,307 ft, tested 1,386 b/d of 34° gravity oil, natural, at 3,914-4,136 ft in the same two formations.
Quetzal Energy placed Atzam-2 back on production Feb. 13 and expects it to stabilize at 50 b/d of oil. Atzam-2 also had oil and gas shows in Coban C-13, C-14, C-16, and C-17.
