HOUSTON, Feb. 25 – A group led by Pluspetrol Angola Corp. recovered 400 bbl of 33° gravity oil from the presalt Aptian Chela formation at the Castanha-1 exploration well on the Cabinda Onshore South Block in Angola.
The short production test at 2,217-21 m was reported as a maximum flow rate of 2,275 b/d of oil on a 5/8-in. choke. The well cut a 15-m gross hydrocarbon column at 2,214-29 m. Production testing continues, and a full evaluation of results is required before the discovery’s potential can be determined. TD is 3,400 m.
Block participating interests are Pluspetrol, operator, 45%, Force Petroleum de Angola SA and Angola’s state Sonangol P&P each 20%, Lacula Oil Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of Roc Oil Co. Ltd., Sydney, 10%, and Cuba’s state Cubapetroleo 5%.
