HOUSTON, May 27
– A group led by Oil Search Ltd., Sydney, drilled below 1,326 m at the Jebel Al Milh-1 exploratory well on Block 7 in Yemen’s Shabwa basin.

The primary target is fractured Precambrian basement on a structure well defined on 3D and 2D seismic. Projected TD is 3,700 m.

The drillsite is 16 km north-northeast of Al Meashar-1, which drillstem tested oil in fractured basement at 3,180-3,660 m on the block.

Block 7 participants are Oil Search, operator with 34% interest, Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co. (Aden) Ltd. 21.25%, AWE Ltd. unit ARC Energy Holdings Ltd. 21.25%, Mitsui E&P Middle East BV 8.5%, and Yemen General Corp. for Oil and Gas 15%.
