HOUSTON, Feb. 24
– A $4.8 million seismic and gravity program is to be undertaken in eastern Kenya’s onshore Block 3A in the third quarter of 2010, said Vanoil Energy Ltd., Vancouver, BC.

The 324 line-km of 80-fold 2D Vibroseis seismic and gravity data will be used to attempt to mature into drillable prospects a zone of highly prioritized Cretaceous structural leads. The leads exhibit closure, amplitude anomalies, and strong energy attributes, the company said.

Vanoil has entered the third contractual year in Block 3A exploration under a 100% production sharing contract. The initial 4-year exploration period ends in October 2011, and Vanoil plans to drill an exploratory well in 2011.

The underexplored Anza and Mochesa rift basins converge in Block 3A.
