HOUSTON, May 13
– Marion Energy Ltd., Melbourne, will attempt to return to production by the end of the year 13 idle gas wells in Clear Creek field, Carbon and Emery counties, Utah, by installing artificial lift.

Five of the wells produced from the 1950s-60s until being shut-in in the 1970s from Cretaceous Ferron sandstone at 5,700 ft. Initial rates of were 3-6 MMcfd were limited by demand.

Marion drilled eight of the wells in more recent times. Analysis of a log from one recent well showed a high density of open fractures throughout the Ferron. The company also noted that the older wells were shut-in in the 1970s at flow rates that would be economic at present gas prices.
