HOUSTON, July 22 – Hoang Long Joint Operating Co., operator of Block 16-1 in the Cuu Long basin off Vietnam secured the PV Drilling-1 jackup to begin first phase appraisal and development of Te Giac Trang field, said SOCO International PLC.
Contract commitment is for seven wells with four 6-month extension options. The first well is to spud in mid-August after the Phase 1 platform jacket and drilling deck have been installed. The units have been loaded on barges and will be installed offshore within a few weeks.
TGT field is to go on production in mid-2011 at 50,000 b/d of oil.
Meanwhile, SOCO said the Te Giac Den-2X appraisal well is drilling at 3,761 m and expected to reach total depth in mid-August.
Ca Ngu Vang field is making 7,500 b/d of oil and 20 MMscfd of gas and gas liquids. The reservoir has reacted well to pressure maintenance, and operator Hoan Vu Joint Operating Co. is considering drilling another producing well in the 2010 fourth quarter or 2011 second quarter that would eventually be converted to a water injector.
