HOUSTON, July 20
– AWE Ltd., Sydney, will plug and abandon the Kahu-1 exploration well in PMP 38158 about 3 km east of Tui oil field in New Zealand.

The well went to a TD of 3,835 m and detected no significant hydrocarbons in the target sandstone reservoirs, AWE said. The company will move the rig to PMP 38524 to drill the Tuatara-1 exploration well.

AWE Ltd. is operator of PMP 38158 with 42.5% interest. Mitsui E&P Australia Pty. Ltd. Has 35% interest, Stewart Petroleum Co. Ltd. (NZOG) 12.5%, and WM Petroleum Ltd. 10%.
