HOUSTON, June 11
– Legacy Oil + Gas Inc., Calgary, plans to start a drilling program in Bottineau County, ND, in the third quarter of 2010 seeking oil in Jurassic Spearfish (Amaranth) on trend with Waskada light oil field in southern Manitoba, Canada.

Legacy holds 31,292 gross acres in the county at 80% working interest southeast of Waskada that it expects to be prospective based on geological mapping, 2D seismic data, and existing vertical well control, oil shows, and production.

Other operators have tapped Spearfish oil on offsetting acreage in Manitoba and North Dakota with more than 130 multifrac horizontal wells drilled to-date at densities up to 24 wells/sq mile. Spearfish produces 36° gravity sweet crude at 950 m.
