HOUSTON, June 8
– Talisman Energy Inc. will spud the Ste-Gertrude-1 horizontal well in late June to evaluate Ordovician Utica shale on the western part of the Gentilly permit in Quebec’s St. Lawrence Lowlands, said 3.75% working interest owner Canadian Quantum Energy Corp., Calgary.

The well will have a 1,000-m lateral at an estimated 2,010 m true vertical depth.

Results from Ste-Gertrude-1 will assist Canadian Quantum in formulating an exploration plan for its 50%-held Nicolet permit west of Gentilly.

Canadian Quantum holds varying interests in 174,000 gross acres covered by four permits in the lowlands.
