HOUSTON, Sept. 16
-- Beach Petroleum (Tanzania) Ltd. has signed a contract for acquisition and processing of 27,000 line-km of high-resolution airborne magnetic data over its Lake Tanganyika area in western Tanzania.

Parent Beach Energy Ltd., Adelaide, signed a production-sharing agreement covering the 7,160-sq-km block earlier this year. It’s the only exploration license active in the African Great Rift region of the country (OGJ, July 5, 2010, p. 44).

Fugro Airborne Surveys will conduct the survey with its Falcon Airborne Gravity Gradiometer system, which it says is the only such system designed and built for airborne use.
