HOUSTON, Nov. 9
-- Desire Petroleum PLC has plugged the 14/15-1 exploratory well in the North Falkland basin and the rig is waiting on weather to move to the 14/15-2 Rachel North location.

Regulatory and partner approvals have been granted for Desire to drill Rachel North vertically to an estimated 3,050 m 1.7 km from the Rachel sidetrack 14/15-1Z bottomhole location. Drilling is to take 35 days.

Rachel North is intended to evaluate the sands with oil shows encountered in the Rachel sidetrack and a number of possible additional sands not seen in the sidetrack.

Rockhopper Exploration PLC is Desire’s partner in the new well.
