HOUSTON, Nov. 12 -- Cobalt International Energy Inc., Houston, let a contract to Diamond Offshore Drilling Inc. for use of the Ocean Confidence semisubmersible to drill the first two wells on deepwater Block 21 off Angola.

Operating rate is $360,000/day. Cobalt has an option to drill as many as two more wells. The rig is to be mobilized to Angola in the first quarter of 2011 depending on when it completes its current contract.
