HOUSTON, Mar. 23
– Range Energy Resources Inc., Vancouver, BC, said consulting engineers determined an initial resource assessment best estimate of 1.642 billion bbl of oil in place for the Khalakan Block in Iraqi Kurdistan.

The 154,205-acre block is in central Kurdistan between Taq Taq oil field and the Miran oil discovery. Range Energy holds an indirect 24.95% working interest in the block.

Several structures have been outlined using satellite mapping that will be detailed by shooting 250 line-km of seismic set to start this month. A well could spud by the end of 2010.
