Central Petroleum Ltd., Perth, notified the Northern Territory Department of Resources of the discovery status of the CBM107001 coal seam gas exploration well in EP 107 in central Australia’s Pedirka basin.

HOUSTON, Mar. 3
– Central Petroleum Ltd., Perth, notified the Northern Territory Department of Resources of the discovery status of the CBM107001 coal seam gas exploration well in EP 107 in central Australia’s Pedirka basin.

Log analysis confirmed the presence of 130 m of coal in seams greater than 1 m thick, compared with the maximum anticipated prespud thickness of up to 40 m. The next well, CBM107002, will target the coal sequence 31 km updip to the northwest.

Central is operator with 70% interest in EP 107 through its subsidiary Merlin Energy Pty. Ltd. and is in joint venture with Petroleum Exploration Australia Ltd. 20% and Red Sky Energy (NT) Pty. Ltd. 10%.
